Since 2013, Recreation has reshaped brands by combining fresh ideas with high-end production for brand films, documentaries, ads, and tabletop content for screens, big and small. Previously known as The Shed NY, Recreation underwent a name change in 2019 when the Manhattan cultural center of the same name announced its opening.
To usher in the new name, Team worked with Recreation in a full rebranding process, including visual identity, tonality & messaging, motion design, and website, that showcased the company’s unique balance of refinement and nostalgia.
While Recreation’s expertise is vast, their commitment to fun remains a guiding philosophy to their work. The new logo, designed to move, embraces this ethos with a reference to the iconic recording symbol of retro video cameras and camcorders. A monochromatic color palette allows their dynamic work to take center stage, while a vibrant secondary palette of atypical swatches recalls the nostalgic feeling of the Recreation name. The new website highlights Recreation’s work with playful video treatments, creating a unifying motif throughout their expansive portfolio and capabilities.
